中加楓華國(guó)際學(xué)校畢業(yè)生：UBC大一生林欣霓來(lái)信

“我必須接受這樣一個(gè)事實(shí)，在這里，我也就只是一個(gè)普通的學(xué)生，而不再是高中的尖子生。就算是這樣的成績(jī)，還是我不得不付出更多的努力學(xué)習(xí)才達(dá)到的結(jié)果?！?/p>

UBC大一學(xué)生 林欣霓

My life in UBC is way busier than I expected. UBC is so big that I took more than one month to get familiar with this school. I take five courses plus 1 credit LFS 100 (our faculty's required course) this semester and the result turns out that I haven't been so busy ever in my life. Classes are huge (around 200~300 people/class) and I have to run between buildings within 10 minutes. Fortunately I got used of it, but 8 am class every morning is a torture, especially when winter comes.

我在UBC的生活遠(yuǎn)比想像得要忙的多。UBC太大了，以致于我花了一個(gè)多月的時(shí)間去熟悉它。這學(xué)期我修了5門(mén)課，另外還有1個(gè)學(xué)分的LFS100(是我所在系的必修課)。結(jié)果是，在我的人生中，我從沒(méi)有像這樣忙碌過(guò)。UBC的課堂超大(每堂課約有200至300人)，而且在10分鐘內(nèi)，為了趕下一節(jié)課，我得從不同的大樓間奔跑。幸運(yùn)的是，我已經(jīng)習(xí)慣了這樣的生活，但是早上8點(diǎn)的課對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)，真的是折磨人，特別是在冬天。

Materials in university is generally harder, and professors talk really fast. In university, you have to be responsible for yourself because no one will be reminding you what you'll have to do. I have to keep track of when my assignments' due dates are and when the midterms will be coming up. (Btw, please tell Mr.Lindholm that Moodle is really really useful. Right now we submit our homework and obtain info from UBC connect, which is similar to Moodle, so that I didn't have to spend time on figuring what's that about.)

大學(xué)里的學(xué)習(xí)材料，總的來(lái)說(shuō)更難了，而且教授講課真快。在學(xué)校里，你必須對(duì)自己的事情負(fù)責(zé)，沒(méi)有人再提醒你要做什么。我必須要自己記錄作業(yè)的截止時(shí)間，以及期中考試的時(shí)間。(順便說(shuō)一下，請(qǐng)告訴Mr. Lindholm，楓華的MOODLE真的非常有用?，F(xiàn)在我們不管是提交作業(yè)還是獲取信息都是從UBC的網(wǎng)絡(luò)上操作，它就類(lèi)似MOODLE。因?yàn)樵跅魅A已經(jīng)熟悉了，所以我不需要花時(shí)間弄清楚如何使用)。

Generally, we have to spend 3 hours reviewing for one lecture (one class is 50 min) in order to digest what the prof is talking about during the lectures, and pre-reading is very very important, otherwise you would have no clue when you attend class. I have 2 midterms (3 midterms for Psych) and 1 final for each course. However, my midterms are all spread out. The result turns out that my midterm period is 4 weeks long and the midterm 2 came up one week after I finished my midterm 1. I just stayed up the whole night writing my term paper days ago when you guys were having your Halloween party.

為了消化教授50分鐘的講座內(nèi)容，總的來(lái)說(shuō)，我們必須要花3個(gè)小時(shí)來(lái)復(fù)習(xí)。預(yù)習(xí)也是非常非常重要的，否則，等你去上課時(shí)，你會(huì)毫無(wú)頭緒。每門(mén)課程有2次期中考試(不過(guò)，心理學(xué)有3次期中考試)，一次期末考試。然而，我的期中安排都出來(lái)了，開(kāi)課4周后是**次期中考試的時(shí)間，一周后再進(jìn)行第2次期中考試。幾天前，當(dāng)你們還在慶祝萬(wàn)圣節(jié)派對(duì)的時(shí)候，知道我在做什么嗎?我正在熬夜準(zhǔn)備我的學(xué)期論文!

I think the biggest challenge for me is that I have to accept the difference between my original expectations and what I achieve in my new life. Students in UBC are smart and hard working, and many of them took AP and IB before getting into university, which means they actually know more than I do. Sometimes it is hard to catch up because some content is really hard. I have to accept that now I'm just an average student (my midterms are all only a little higher than average) instead of a top student in high school, and I have to spend a lot more effort on studying.

對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)，我認(rèn)為**的困難就是我不得不接受理想與現(xiàn)實(shí)之間的差距。UBC的學(xué)生聰明又好學(xué)。很多學(xué)生進(jìn)入大學(xué)前還修了預(yù)課，這意味著他們實(shí)際上比我知道的多。有時(shí)，課堂上要跟上教授的節(jié)奏很難，因?yàn)榇_實(shí)有些內(nèi)容太難了。我必須接受這樣一個(gè)事實(shí)，在這里，我也就只是一個(gè)普通的學(xué)生(我的期中考試只比平均成績(jī)高了一點(diǎn)點(diǎn))，而不再是高中的尖子生。就算是這樣的成績(jī)，還是我不得不付出更多的努力學(xué)習(xí)才達(dá)到的結(jié)果。

Recently, many Grade 12s came to me and told me that they are afraid they would not be able to get into universities because their marks right now are lower than universities' requirements. What I want to suggest them is to try their best and they should be fine. And take as many classes as possible because they may be really useful when you get into university. But I really want to tell them is enjoy the rest of their high school life because life won't be that easy when they get into university. That's why I miss SCHS so much.

近來(lái)，很多12年級(jí)的學(xué)生來(lái)找我，說(shuō)因?yàn)槌煽?jī)低于大學(xué)錄取的要求，擔(dān)心不能順利進(jìn)入大學(xué)。我想給他們點(diǎn)建議是，盡自己**的努力，他們都會(huì)好起來(lái)的。而且要盡可能多修一些課程，因?yàn)楫?dāng)他們一旦進(jìn)入大學(xué)，他們或許發(fā)現(xiàn)，這些課程非常有用。還有我真的想告訴他們，好好享受余下的高中生活，因?yàn)樯洗髮W(xué)后，生活沒(méi)有那么輕松。這就是為什么我非常想念楓華學(xué)校。
