English 12 is very important because the course shows how prepared students are for the intense academic requirements needed to be successful in university. Firstly, universities need to know if students can read academic texts and have the ability to not just understand, but critically analyze them from different perspectives. They need to know if students can write with focus and convincingly express their developed opinions. Lastly, universities need to know if students can express their ideas using the English language both in the written form and orally. A high mark in English 12 ensures that the student are fully prepared for the demands of an university education.

英語12非常重要，因為這門課程展示了學(xué)生是如何為高強(qiáng)度學(xué)習(xí)做準(zhǔn)備的，而這些高強(qiáng)度的學(xué)習(xí)是想要在大學(xué)取得成功所必須經(jīng)歷的。首先，大學(xué)需要知道學(xué)生是否可以閱讀學(xué)術(shù)文章，且有一定的理解，能從不同角度進(jìn)行批判性分析;其次，他們需要知道學(xué)生在寫作時是否能明確重點，并闡述自己的觀點;最后，大學(xué)需要知道學(xué)生是否可以用書面和口頭從容地表達(dá)自己的想法，而英語12的高分確保了學(xué)生對大學(xué)教育的要求有充分的準(zhǔn)備。

對于任課老師，您會有怎樣的要求?

For all instructors to be successful in English 12 they must show critical thinking abilities, a strong work ethic, ability to receive constructed feedback, and a willingness to step out of their comfort zone. Students have high expectations on their teachers in English 12 and it is our responsibility to come prepared for class and to answer all of their questions. As well, instructors should have a strong grasp of their academically developed pedagogy and implement progressive learning strategies in the classroom. Lastly, the instructors must have a strong personal and ethical integrity to ensure the course’s requirements are being met at all times.

每一位任課老師想在英語12取得成功，必須有批判性思維能力、強(qiáng)烈的職業(yè)道德、接受學(xué)生的反饋的能力，以及樂于走出舒適區(qū)。學(xué)生對英語12的任課老師抱有很高的期待，因此，我們有責(zé)任為課堂做好充分準(zhǔn)備，并回答他們所提出的所有問題。同時，教師應(yīng)該對自己的教學(xué)方法有較強(qiáng)的把握，并在課堂上實施循序漸進(jìn)的學(xué)習(xí)策略。最后，教師必須有過硬的個人和學(xué)術(shù)能力，以確保課程的要求在任何時候都得到滿足。
